Sycamores are fast growing, long-lived trees. Common adjectives to describe the trees are "massive" and "huge." As the sycamore on Ada's Main Street proved in fall 2021, the quantity of leaves they produce and drop is also massive.

Sigma Phi Epsilon volunteers, Brunk named to Tree Commission

On November 12 a volunteer crew from Sigma Phi Epsilon helped clear the downtown of leaves dropped by the 120-year-old and 110-foot-tall sycamore that is located next to the Ada Theatre on Main Street. A local shopkeeper compared the influx of super-sized leaves to snow drifts.
