The Polar Bears posted their third consecutive winning season as they went 21-16 in 2016 and went 9-9 in the OAC.
Over the last three seasons, Northern has recorded a school-record 79 victories in that time span.
"We really want to compete this season," said head coach Gene Stechschulte. "These guys have been working hard this offseason and we think we can compete at a very high level this season."

The Polar Bears will open the season on Mar. 4 as they compete in the RussMatt Invitational in Auburndale, Fla. from Mar. 4-11.
Students at ONU Child Development Center took advantage of the first day of March by choosing whether to create a lion or lamb. When the Icon stopped by, the lion was most popular animal in the jungle.

A gay man active in the Human Rights Campaign and a woman lawyer from the Ohio Attorney General's Office discussed discrimination and implicit bias during a forum at the law college on Tuesday.
Susan Sharkey, senior assistant attorney general of the civil rights section of the Ohio AG Office, told of cases involving discrimination, how the cases were resolved, and what the results of the ceases mean for other disputes going forward. As a side note, her boss, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, received his law degree from ONU.
COLDWATER - The Ada boys basketball team endured a cold shooting night and fell to New Bremen 65-31 in Div. IV first round sectional action Tuesday night at Coldwater.
With their sixth consecutive defeat, Ada ended its season with a record of 4-19. Meanwhile, the Cardinals snapped a nine-game losing skid and improved to 2-21 following the win.
The Cards advance to face second-seeded Midwest Athletic Conference rival Fort Recovery (15-7, 6-3 MAC) in the second round Friday, March 3 at approximately 8 p.m. in Coldwater.
