The annual Liberty Conservation Club fishing derby will be held Sunday and, if you are lucky enough to catch a tagged catfish named Big Liberty, you win $100. Other fish are tagged, as well, for prizes ranging from money to items donated by local businesses, such as pizza.
About 500 fish have been added to the lake this week, including trout, bass, bluegill, and catfish.
Derby setup begins at 9 a.m., children fish from 12:30-1:30, adults fish from 2-5 p.m.
Family memberships are $20 for the year. Memberships can be purchased at the derby.

Liberty National Bank is thanking police officers for their service and recognizing those who have died by placing blue ribbons on the posts in front of the Ada office because this is National Police Week.
President Kennedy signed a proclamation in 1962 designating May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week.
Employees of the local bank also signed a Thank You card that was mailed to the department.

If there is a blue dot on a tree in front of your home, that tree is going to get a trimming. AEP is in town this week to trim trees that interfere with electric lines. The workers know which trees to “shave” because the trees previously have been marked with a blue dot. Check out the next photo for a "long shot" of this tree trimming scene. (Monty Siekerman photos)

Greek Life recently gave a $230 donation to ReStore Community Center. The money came from the proceeds from Greek Week activities held on campus in mid April. The fraternities and sororities hold many competitive events that week. Here’s an Ada Icon photo of this year’s rain-soaked egg race.
