Head, heart, hands and health are the four Hs of 4-H, the cornerstone values of 4-H and the main elements of the 4-H pledge. These values also comprise the daily living of Amy Spar, one of Ada’s Liberty Belles and Boys 4-H club advisors.
Amy grew up in Xenia, Ohio, and has firsthand recollections of the historic and devastating tornado outbreak that affected her town in 1974. In 1986 Amy came to Ada for more affordable housing while working at Lima Memorial Hospital.
Junior Nathan Rosenbaum has been named First Team Capital One Academic All-America in cross country/track & field, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
This is the first time that Rosenbaum, a mechanical engineering major, has earned Academic All-America honors.
During the cross country season, he earned First Team All-OAC honors with a third place finish at the OAC Championships. He also earned All-Great Lakes Region honors with a eighth place finish.
Blanchard Valley Hospital laboratory manager, Shawn Griggs, a graduate of Ohio Northern University, has been named one of the American Society for Clinical Pathology’s (ASCP) “40 Under 40” for his achievements in the medical laboratory field.
The Buy Ada First committee is hosting its second Music on Main event at downtown Ada this summer.
The Music on Main event is from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 11, at the Depot Park. Music will be provided by the Bank Kwik Fire (sponsored by Liberty National Bank).
The Ada Kiwanis Club will hold a pre-sale Harlan’s Chicken Barbecue dinner during the event by the Depot Parking lot.
The Buy Ada First committee invites residents to shop in downtown stores, buy a barbecue dinner or have dinner at a local restaurant, bring a lawn chair and spend time with friends and neighbors downtown.
