Story and photos by Monty Siekerman
Just about every Christmas song ever written will be sung at ONU during the Kappa Phi Sing-A-Thon.
Here, members of the group perform at the beginning of the marathon. The 24 hour continuous sing will find more than 100 students singing, in groups and individually, between 5 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday raising their voices for a good cause...to help little Amelia Griffin from Ada who is battling cancer.
The sing-a-thon has been held for many years. The event is a project of the local chapter of the Christian women's service.
Carson Cross is happy to see Santa at breakfast Saturday at The Inn at Ohio Northern University. Five-year-old Carson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Cross of Kenton. Santa will also be at the Depot on Monday evening. (Monty Siekerman photo)
Just in case you wonder, Santa Claus is a good friend of the Ada Police Department.
That's why you'll see Santa pull up to the Ada Depot in an Ada police cruiser at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 7. He'll meet youth of all ages from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
You see, this year, Santa's escort to Merry on Main is the Ada police department.
For the third year, the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce sponsor Merry on Main. It's an event that launches the holiday season here.
This year's event includes a Santa visit plus some snacks for kids and adults inside the depot. Lots of other holiday activities take place in the depot.
The Icon Christmas Elf became carried away with Photoshop as it played with this holiday scene from the Ada Public library posted last year. The Elf will probably create additional artistic winter scenes throughout the month. Using photojouralism ethics we must call this a photo illustration.
