Things to do before going to an emergency care center or emergency room

Tom Miller, Ada-Liberty Township EMS chief, provided the Icon with several important steps for persons to follow if they have questions about the coronavirus.  Those steps follow:

• If you believe you have virus symptoms, and need information, do not go to an urgent care facility or hospital emergency room. 

He recommends three options people should take first:|
• Visit the Ohio Department of Health website:

• Call the Ohio Department of Health hotline for further information: 833-427-5634

• Call your primary care physician

The “It’s All About Time! Live Healthy Live Well Challenge” is an on-line challenge designed to help participants improve their health by encouraging ways to add regular movement, mindfulness techniques and healthy eating to their lifestyles.

OSU Extension professionals will share tips to help you with making the most of the time you have been given. 

Offering free prescription delivery service to anyone within a 40-mile radius

The ONU HealthWise Pharmacy remains open during this national emergency with regular hours Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The pharmacy is offering free prescription delivery service to anyone within a 40-mile radius of the pharmacy (including Lima and Findlay) and anyone in Hardin County.

Individuals interested in this service should call 419-772-3784. The pharmacy can transfer prescriptions from other pharmacies to allow anyone to take advantage of this service.

The Pharmacy can mail prescriptions to students at their home through the remainder of the spring and summer.

The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce sent the following notice to its members and it is shared on the Icon:

My heart goes out to everyone in our Ada / Hardin county area. 

I have numbers for unemployment sign ups, liquor buy backs, emergency business loans, and virus hot line.

I have spoke to the county health department as well as some of you with business questions. Please contact me directly if you need any of this information.

There will be no Ohio Tuesday, March 17, primary election - despite an earlier judge's ruling.

Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton, M.D., MPH, tonight issued an order regarding Closure of the Polling Locations in the State of Ohio on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
