MAY 27 MEDIA RELEASE___Northwest Ohio – Wildlife District Two

During the 2024-25 white-tailed deer gun hunting season, State Wildlife Officer Jason Porinchok, assigned to Putnam County, observed a hunter wearing only a hunter-orange hat. Hunters are required to wear an orange vest, coat, jacket, or coveralls during deer gun hunting seasons. Officer Porinchok contacted the hunter and issued a citation for not wearing the required hunter orange. The hunter paid a $125 fine in addition to court costs in Putnam County Court.

On May 27, the Ada Schools announced the following honor roll for the Elementary, Junior High and High School for the 4th quarter of the 2024-2025 school year.

Honor Roll is a designation for grades 4-12 and indicates which students received all A's and all A's and B's. Dean's List is a designation for grades 7-12. The criteria for Dean's List is a GPA of at least 3.2.

Roy V. Rogers, age 74, of Lima, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025 at Springview Manor, Lima.

On July 9, 1950 in Rochester, New York, Roy was born to Newton E. and Marjorie (Lewis) Rogers.  Roy married Rita J. Merriman on November 19, 1978 and she survives in Lima.

Also surviving are their six children: Jim (Janita) Rogers of East Rochester, NY, Pauline (David) Frank of Ontario, NY, Annie (Marc Butler) Rogers of LaFayette, Marjorie (Aaron) King of Lima, Sandy (Tye) Parker of Lima and Tony (Faith) Rogers of Lima; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

MAY 23 MEDIA RELEASE__Ada Rotary President-Elect Denise D'Arca presents $1,000 scholarship awards to Ada High School seniors Aubrey Pope (left) and Karley Wagner (right) at a recent meeting. 

Pope will attend Ohio University, majoring in applied nutrition and anthropology, and hopes to become a certified dietician/nutritionist. 

Wagner is headed for Bowling Green State University, where she will begin her journey toward becoming a physician's assistant.

Sondra A. Combs, age 72, of Kenton, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Lima Memorial Health System. 

She was born on June 27, 1952 in Kenton, Ohio to the late Leonard and Esther (Hurt) Hinton.Sondra is survived by her children: Jason (Kimberly) Combs of Wallace, NC and Ashley (Brian Diller) Wibbing of Bluffton; significant other, Paul Belton of Kenton; six grandchildren: Taylor (James) Houseworth, Miranda Wibbing, Curtis Wibbing, Brayden, Reegan and Ashlyn; brother, David (Karen) Hinton of Ft. Meade, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis L. Combs on December 14, 2002; sister and brother-in-law: Carolyn and Edgar Craig.
