Ada Lions Club recognized seven Ada High School graduates with scholarships total $5,750 this month.

The recipients and individual scholarship amounts follow:
Katelyn Butterfield     $800 
Sidney Gossard         $1,050
Kendal Guagenti        $500
Kaylee Huffer             $800
Josephine Poling        $1,050
Isaac Spar                  $1,050
Madison Wright           $500

This is the 21st year of the Lions scholarships. During that period 98 students have received scholarship money totaling $87,200.

"You may now more your tassle to the other side of your mortar board. You've offiically graduated from Ada High School" Meri Skilliter, Ada superintendent.

Did you miss the 137th annual Ada High School commencerment ceremony? There are several reasons that may have happened.

The good news is that the school compiled a video involving each graduate and it's almost as if you were there in the audience. And, its gaining raving reviews on the Ada Bulldogs Facebook.

April 15-30 Liberty Township rainfall registered slightly under 1 inch, according to Phil Epley, who recorded it for the Hardin County Extension Office.

The county average during that period was 1.54 inches with the highest recorded rainfall in McDonald Township at 1.95 inches. Blanchard Township’s 0.70 inches was the lowest.

Last year, the average rainfall for the same time period was 4.08 inches. Rainfall for the April 15-30 time period is 0.83 inches less than the 10-year average rainfall during the same dates. 

Ada-Liberty Township Fire Department responded to a carbon fire alarm at 4:35 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27.

The call was to 402 W. College Ave., Ada, on the second floor, west end of McIntosh Center on the ONU campus. The department's engine 51 responded. No other details were provided.

The Hardin County Sheriff's log for May 26-27 is attached.

Ada schools pickup/drop off of materials is tonight in the South parking lot from 4-6 p.m. for those who've not dropped off or picked up materials yet.

The last scheduled pickup/drop off time is Thursday, May 28, from 1-3 p.m. in the South parking lot.

Cincinnati student receives Freed leadership and service award

Hannah Smith of Cincinnati has received the 2020 Catherine Freed Outstanding Senior Female Leadership and Service Award from Ohio Northern University. Smith, a graduate of McAuley High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ohio Northern this spring.
