Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is a chronic neurological condition that causes severe pain in a limb. The pain is disproportionate to the injury or trauma that caused it. This affects roughly 200,000 people in the United States.
CRPS is believed to be caused by malfunctioning of the peripheral and central nervous system (CNS). Your peripheral nervous system relays information from your brain and spinal cord to your organs, arms, legs, fingers, and toes. The CNS is composed of the brain and spinal cord. The abnormal functioning results in an overreaction to pain signals that your body can’t turn off.
The main symptom of CRPS is prolonged and excessive pain. Other symptoms include the following:
McGUFFEY – The Ada High School girls basketball team tipped off its season on November 22 at traditional rival Upper Scioto Valley with a 39-31 loss in Alumni Fieldhouse.
A 12-1 Ram run bridging the end of the third period and early fourth quarter broke open a tie game and spelled the difference.
The non-league defeat dropped the Bulldog record to 0-1 to start the season. It also halted a seven-game Ada win streak over the Rams dating back to the semifinals of the 2018 Border Battle tournament.
USV starts off 1-0 after the hard-fought win. The win avenged a pair of losses to Ada last season.
“The girls played hard and gave everything they had,” said Ada third-year head coach Zach Ricker.
Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) continues to look for dedicated volunteers to fill a variety of roles.
The organization updates its volunteer opportunities list regularly. Heather Schalk, volunteer services manager, said volunteers today often want flexibility. Some want to volunteer for several hours each week, while others might have less availability but ask to be on the list for a one-time opportunity, like a special event. Schalk meets with each new volunteer individually to get a sense of their interests, skills, and schedule.
