ADA__The talented and deep Ada High School girls soccer team kicked off its fall 2026 season with a 9-0 blowout win against an overmatched visiting Tiffin Columbian squad on a muggy Saturday night, August 15 at War Memorial Stadium.
The Bulldog girls raced to a 6-0 lead at halftime and tacked on three more scores by the 67th minute to win easily. Ada exploited a big edge in speed, depth, talent and skill to pull off the decisive victory.
In my role as Chaplain at Mennonite Memorial Home, I was blessed to meet many special residents. Some modeled not only great faith, but also special talents. Grace Moyer Frounfelker was one.
Very sharp of mind in her nineties, she was a native of Allentown, Pennsylvania, and had been living in Bluffton. She was active at First Mennonite Church. She and her husband had lived in a wilderness area out west. He was an outdoorsman and psychologist and wore a beard before beards became commonplace among men.

While these cases are serious and deserve attention, it is important to recognize that fraudulent activity represents a small portion of the hospice industry. The vast majority of hospice providers remain committed to delivering ethical, compassionate and patient-centered end-of-life care.
A sober examination of American society today must acknowledge a state of political confusion and public anxiety. Abroad, we are in a war of choice with Iran with no developed exit strategy. We have drawn closer to Communist China than at any time since Mao Zedong announced the founding of the People's Republic of China. Meanwhile, we increase our distance from NATO allies, and have been less than enthusiastic about supporting Ukraine against invading Russian forces.
Hilda E. Mumma, age 104, of Ada, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Vancrest of Ada.
She was born on September 28, 1921, in Watkins, IA, to John and Selina (Brand) Schaad. On March 8, 1941, Hilda married Joe F. Mumma, and he preceded her in death on July 27, 1988.

At this month's Ada Area Chamber of Commerce meeting, which is held at the center, Director Deb Curlis explained that 94,000 pounds of clothing has been processed by thrift store volunteers since January.
Therefore, in celebration of Labor Day, all will take a break during the first week of September and reopen on Tuesday, September 8.
