Visiting Kenton put together two seven-run innings to defeat the Ada baseball team 16-5 in a county rivalry battle Wednesday evening.

The Bulldogs fell to 8-9 with the non-league defeat, and the Wildcats improved to 4-9 with the win.

Kenton broke up a scoreless game with seven runs in the top of the third inning, then scored seven more in the seventh to put the game out of reach.

Ada plated two runs in the home fourth. Phillip Coulson stole two bases and came around to score the first Bulldog run. Connor Frazier looped a single to center field to cut the deficit to 7-2.

Several area fire department are on the scene of a house fire in Alger this morning (April 25), according to scanner traffic.

The fire at 8091 County Road 35 has the following departments on the scene: Ada-Liberty, Roundhead, Alger and McGuffey.

Several annual Ada Saturday summer events are on the calendar. Complete details are still in the works. In the meantime, here’s a peak at what to anticipate:

• July 6  – Lima Symphony Orchestra patriotic pops concert – on the ONU lawn

The Alger Public Library's free monthly movie night for for May is Friday, May 26 at 6:30 p.m.  All ages are invited and a free snack is also provided.  

This month's movie will be "Bumbelbee," from the Transformers series.

Senior jumps specialist Mallory Weininger (Upper Sandusky) has been named the final Ohio Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week in the 2019 season for women's outdoor track and field, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

On Saturday, Weininger claimed the high jump title at the 2019 AJ Cody Invitational held at Ohio Northern, helping guide the team to first place in the four-team field. The senior set a new outdoor career-best after clearing 1.60 meters (5' 3").

Ada school board took several actions at its April 18 board meeting. The follow report includes some of that action from the school’s April Staff Notes, and is not officially approved board minutes.

• The board approved the bid for a boiler and water heater replacement project from Walter’s Boiler Works, Inc., prime contractor.

• approved the resignation of Trent Temple, effective Aug. 1, 2019.

• approved volunteer drivers for the 2018-2019 school year: Amy Mullins, Scott Mullins, Kyleigh Tabor and Tyler Craig.
