HARROD - The Ada wrestling team finished sixth at the eight-team Northwest Conference championship meet Saturday at Allen East High School.
Heavyweight Noah Arnett (12-6) posted the top Ada finish by coming in third in the 285 lb. division. He won three matches by pin, all in under one minute, but lost to the top two finishers in his weight class.
Bulldog junior Reece Evans (160) and junior Ethan Hull (170) each came in fourth in their brackets. Ada sophomore Colton Biederman (0-3) also finished fourth in the 120 lb. division.

ADA - Ada sophomore Brandon Hull sank a fast break layup with seven seconds left, and the Bulldogs dodged a last-ditch halfcourt heave at the horn to post a thrilling 55-54 non-conference boys basketball win over visiting Lima Temple Christian Saturday night.
The purple and gold improved to 4-16 overall with the high-energy win, while LTC dropped to 7-14 after their seventh consecutive defeat.
With Temple ahead 54-53, Pioneer senior post Dakota Clay missed the front end of a one-and-one free throw opportunity with only 15.5 seconds left.

COLUMBUS GROVE - Host Columbus Grove broke away from a close game at halftime to beat feisty Ada 60-43 and clinch at least a tie for the Northwest Conference boys basketball crown Friday night.
The purple and gold dropped to 3-16 overall and 2-5 in the NWC with the defeat. Meanwhile, Grove improved to 15-4 and 7-0 in league play with their seventh straight victory.
CG remains alone atop the NWC with a showdown game left at second-place Crestview (19-1, 6-1 NWC) next Friday to end the league season.
Alice M. Winegardner, 88, died on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at 10:30 p.m. at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
She was born on Sept. 12,1930, in Van Wert to the late Lloyd and Pearl (Beam) Haviland. On April 23, 1950, Alice married Kenneth O. Winegardner and they were one month shy of their 60th wedding anniversary when he preceded her in death on March 23, 2010.
Alice worked at Adon Studio, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insurance Company in Lima, The Fertilizer Plant in Harrod, did housework and home health care.

On Monday, Feb. 25, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Ada First Presbyterian Church, the Liberty Belles and Boys 4-H Club will be host sign-up night for returning and new members.
