A lot of work and effort went into planning the Ada VFW car show on Main Street in downtown Ada on Saturday, but the weatherman had his say, too.

Even though the forecast called for rain during most of the show, the planners proceeded to set up for the event, anyway. And, it’s a good thing because the forecast was mostly wrong.

Pirates invaded the INN, and many mermaids were spied there, too, when the campus hotel hosted a Friday afternoon luncheon for youngsters and their parents.

The kids were dressed as pirates and mermaids for the fun event, which included a treasure chest for each to decorate, nautical-themed food, and gifts.

A professional photographer was on hand to record the memorable occasion.

Although Alpha Omicron Pi social sorority left campus 23 years ago, members still gather for an annual reunion. From Friday through Sunday, 101 ONU sorority sisters enjoyed each other’s company with many staying at The Inn. A luncheon was held on Saturday and that evening many dined together at Viva Maria’s.

This was the local sorority’s fifth annual reunion at ONU, according to Anita Cook, one of the organizers. Anita, formerly on the Freed Center staff, now lives in Columbus. She said the women who returned to campus last weekend came from across the United States.

While here, the women also donated several thousand dollars to two charities.
