The Ohio Northern Symphony will present a concert, “Black History and Brahms,” at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25 in the Freed Center.

 

Tickets are $20 for general admission, $15 for ONU faculty and staff, $10 for seniors, and $5 for students. The Freed Center box office is open Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Phone orders are accepted with American Express, MasterCard, VISA or Discover by calling 419-772-1900. Dr. Jennifer Walton, associate professor fo communication arts, Ohio Northern University, will address that subject at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Ada Public Library.

The program is free and open to the public.

COLUMBUS GROVE - Host Columbus Grove clinched the outright Northwest Conference girls basketball title with a convincing 82-23 win over Ada Thursday evening in the league season finale.

 

Ada finished its regular season 4-17 overall and 0-8 in the NWC with the defeat. Meanwhile, Grove improved to 12-8 and 7-1 in the NWC with the victory.

 

Abby Gladwell led Grove with 23 points.

 

Bulldog senior Maddie Gossard topped Ada with nine points while classate Anney Archer added eight. Raina England added six markers.

 

CG also won a shortened two-quarter JV game, 24-0.

 

AKRON — Sophomore Lauren Halle (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) won the 200 I.M. in school-record fashion to lead the Ohio Northern women on the first day of the 2018 Ohio Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium.

Halle edged John Carroll's Gwyn Ledrick in the 200 I.M. by just .42 of a second, winning in 2:08.26. Her time broke the previous mark of

Senior Sydney Veon (Riverside, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) earned All-OAC kudos in the 50 free, finishing third in :23.99.
