Then you might want to enter, or just show up at the library on Saturday AM

Love chocolate? Who doesn't.

Ada Public Library's 6th annual chococlate bake-off should appeal to you. It's at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, at the library.

The rules to enter are simple and there's just one rule: bake or make something that showcases chocolate as the main ingredient and bring it to the library on Saturday by 10:45 a.m.

The winner will be decided by popular choice. Call or stop by the library to sign-up or just show up to enjoy a free dessert and help choose a bake-off winner.

Melia Santillanez and Elsie Allen won first place in last year’s bake-off. They entered a Texas sheet cake.

Mark your calendar and buy your tickets for the annual Ada Kiwanis Club Pancake and Sausage Day. The meal will be served from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 14 in the Ada Schools cafeteria.

Tickets are available from club members and at Liberty National Bank, Ferguson Insurance, Dr. Mark Shull’s office, and Hanson-Neely Funeral Home.

The cost is $7 pre-sale and $8 at the door for the all-you-can-eat meal. Children 10 and under are free.

Proceeds benefit community projects. The club has been serving the community for 94 years.

The next meeting of the Ada School Board will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, in the board room at the school. There will be a planning session in addition to the board meeting.

Don’t let that be an excuse to not get up and get moving inside!

By Christine Schroeder, MOT, OTR/L
Too cold to exercise outside? Don’t let that be an excuse to not get up and get moving inside!

It’s hard to stay motivated when it’s cold outside and you haven’t seen the sun for few days. Believe me – I know!  I’m not afraid to say that I’m a sucker for a good movie, my snuggly blanket and comfy couch on those cold winter nights.

Although there is nothing wrong in and of itself of those things (we all need a little downtime from time to time), I also realize balance is important. I tell myself that my snuggly blanket will be my reward AFTER I have completed my indoor workout. ;-)
