 Thomas Hattery, age 75, died on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 4:35 a.m. at his residence in Lima, Ohio.

          Thomas was born on May 25, 1942 in Alger, Ohio to the late Leo F. and Virginia L. (Armstrong) Hattery. On April 8, 2005 he married Kathaleen (Cox) Hittle and she survives in Lima.

          Thomas was a retired cook from The Huddle Restaurant and formerly worked at the Kewpee East in Lima.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The Ohio Northern wrestling team posted a 1-1 record to finish in 14th place at the Lycoming (Pa.) National Duals on Saturday morning at the Lamade Gymnasium.

The Polar Bears (6-9 overall) defeated Waynesburg (Pa.) 36-12 Saturday morning and fell to tournament host Lycoming (Pa.) 24-18 on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Alex Bair (Centerville) led Ohio Northern with a 4-0 record on the weekend, posting a fall, a tech fall, a major decision and a decision to improve to 17-10 on the season. He was also named to the All-Tournament Team at 184 pounds.

The Ada Music Boosters sponsor weekly bingo at Center on Central, 111 Central Ave., on Thursdays. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Play begins at 6:55 p.m. Ada Bingo uses new, radio-controlled electronic machines, as well as paper packages.

Dinner is available before play begins. The food is provided by Booster parents and varies from hot dogs to spaghetti, soup, sandwiches, casseroles, desserts, drinks and more.

Senior Amy Bullimore is just 23 points away from being the leading scorer in ONU women’s basketball history, following a gutsy 22-point performance in 10th-ranked Northern’s overtime win over Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday night.

Red Cross responding to family's needs

The American Red Cross North Central Ohio Chapter responded to a fire on Township Highway 82 near Forest late Saturday night.

The Red Cross provided assistance to the home’s resident for immediate needs, including temporary shelter, food and clothing.

"We’re deeply saddened for those who were impacted by this fire,” said Todd James, Executive Director, North Central Ohio Chapter.

“As we continue to help them, we urge everyone to take steps to minimize the risk of a fire occurring in their home.”
