Elaine (Shields) Adams finishes an extensive window display for the holidays at COSI. Although polar bears remind one of Arctic cold, the ONU mascot polar bear (named Klondike) sends "Warm Wishes" in this artwork of 'bears and trees. Elaine won several district art awards while a student at Ada High School in the mid 1980s. She hasn't done a lot of art since, she said. But the extensive display at COSI proves she hasn't lost her touch. She is now manager of Flavours, the Sodexo catering service at ONU. (Monty Siekerman photo)

Chance for school system to say "thank you"

By Monty Siekerman
The Ada Schools welcomed 230 senior citizens to the 26th annual Christmas luncheon, which included a visit from Santa, and concluded with a performance by the Varsity Singers and High School Choir.

The festive occasion was an opportunity for the school system to say "thank you" for all that the seniors have done for the school in the past and continue to do.

The cheerleaders handled the coat-check while the boys and girls varsity basketball teams were the servers. The meal included roasted turkey and all of the trimmings.

ONU's multi-cultural dinner is an expression of the phrase

The many cultures of Ada - on the ONU campus - got together on Tuesday to celebrate Christmas.

Monty Siekerman shares these photos of the party.
