Honigford wins Medalist honors at 6-team Polar Bear Easter Classic

ONU sophomore Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) won Medalist honors and led the Ohio Northern women's golf team to a victory at the 6-team Polar Bear Easter Classic on a warm and windy Friday, April 15, at Colonial Golfers Club in Harrod.
The Polar Bears (68-13 overall) finished with a 348 on a day that saw sustained winds at 15-20 with gusts over 30 miles per hour throughout the day.
Honigford shot an 82 to win Medalist honors by three strokes on the par-72 course.
Freshman Amelia Burger (Centerville) and junior Isabella Orofino (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) also posted top-5 finishes by tying for fourth out of 44 golfers with 88s.
Senior Karlee Staugler (Saint Henry) tied for seventh with a 90 and sophomore Rylie Smith (Cambridge/Buckeye Trail) tied for 12th with a 93.
Wooster and Northwestern Ohio tied for second with 370s, Bluffton was fourth with a 380, Heidelberg was fifth with a 409 and Tiffin was sixth with a 418.
The Polar Bears have completed their regular season and will return to action April 22-24 with the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ohio.
