Mark Hilan and Amy Eddings at Easter House, 508 N. Main St., Ada, invite Icon viewers to an Earth Day event at their home from 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, April 22. The Victorian “painted lady,” known by many as the “Easter Egg House,” will be the scene of a free talk on fermented foods and their health benefits. The couple host Fermentation on Wheels’ Tara Whitsitt, who travels the country in an old school bus to promote making one’s own sauerkraut, sourdough and pickles. It’s free.
Katrina Linz, president of ONU Recycling, promotes an effort to collect electronics from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in McIntosh Center. The collection will take place April 21 and 22 for the local community and campus as part of Earth Week.
Most all electronics will be be accepted, except lightbulbs, TVs, and alkaline batteries.
During the school year, ONU Recycles collected aluminum cans and plastic bottles, placing 9th among 65 schools in a Pepsico-sponsored national competition.
Funds from the recycled material will help disabled veterans start businesses.
Irene L. Stober, 101 died on Friday April 17, 2015, at 4:41 p.m. at Lee Memorial Hospital, Fort Myers, Florida.
She was born on Oct. 1, 1913, in Ft. Jennings, Ohio, to George M. and Anna Barbara (Geckle) Moore and they preceded her in death. She married Robert M. Stober on Aug. 15, 1942, and he preceded her in death on April 27, 1992.
Shewas a homemaker and had worked at Westinghouse Electric Corporation for 34 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Ada, and a member of its Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of the Ada Senior Citizens, Inc. and a member of the Kenton Elks #157.
