Bulldogs clinch 2nd district crown in program history

BATH – The Ada High School softball team used strong defense, good pitching and timely hitting to defeat Carey 6-3 in a hard-fought Div. VI District 3 final on a cool Friday evening at Lima Bath.
The Ada girls improved to 21-4 with the big victory. It marks the second district crown in program history, and their first since 2018.
The Ada Icon and Bluffton Icon will be in holiday mode for the long weekend of May 24-25-26. Except for breaking news, articles will be on pause. Say hello to our photographers and news gatherers at graduation and Memorial Day events.

Due to the low overnight temperatures, the water temperature cannot be maintained at the required minimum of 70 degrees and the outside temperatures are not reaching the minimum 65 degrees.
Eighty one Ohio Northern student-athletes were named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference in the 10 spring sports for 2025.
Men's track and field and cross country led all teams with 16 honorees. Women's track and field and cross country had 15, baseball had 11, men's lacrosse had nine, softball and women's tennis had seven each, women's lacrosse and men's tennis had five each and men's and women's golf had three each.
The award winners must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have a cumulative grade-point-average of at least 3.50.
The registration for Hardin County Summer Career Exploration Program--an opportunity for anyone in grades 9-12--will be kept open through May 30.
This is a hands-on summer program to explore careers in behavioral health, social work and human services while eaming a stipend and gaining valuable experience.
Students will receive a $30 per day stipend with the opportunity to eam $120 over the 4-day series.

On December 21, 1967, the movie The Graduate was released. Dustin Hoffman starred in the movie as Benjamin Braddock, who just graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree and has moved home to Pasadena, California. The actor Walter Brooke, who played Mr. McGuire, gives Benjamin his advice for the future. He tells him one word—plastics! “There’s a great future in plastics.”
