Velma M. Scott was a schoolteacher
Velma M. Scott, age 92, of Alger, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
She was born on April 18, 1931, in Hardin County, Ohio to the late Berlie and Betty (Prater) Dotson. Velma married Robert Scott who preceded her in death on September 10, 2000.
Velma is survived by her three grandchildren: Heather Goodwin, Alex (McKenna) Stone, and Heather Blailock; several great grandchildren; and her sister, Bernice Cocrane of Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her two sons: John Stone and J.B. Stone; her daughter, Vikki Scott; a grandson, Commander Seth A. Stone; two brothers: Russell and Charles; and two sisters: Irene and Virginia.
Velma retired after 25 years from the Upper Scioto Valley Schools, where she was a schoolteacher. She was a member of the Alger First United Methodist Church. Velma graduated from Ohio Northern University, Ada and the University of Dayton.
Memorial services will be held at the First Methodist Church, Alger on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
