Hardin County Sheriff's Office
On August 30, 2024 at approximately 10:35 a.m., the Hardin County Central Dispatch Center received multiple calls for an injury accident at US 68 and Township Road 110 in Pleasant Township.
Initial reports indicated that the accident was possibly a car versus a semi-truck. Upon further investigation by the Hardin County Sheriff's Office deputies, it was determined that a 2004 tan Pontiac driven by Kalir Manns of Kenton was eastbound on Township Road 110 and failed to yield at the stop sign at the intersection, moving into the path of a southbound semi-truck driven by Robert Shenkel of Wayne, Michigan.
Manns was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported by MedFlight to The Ohio State University hospital with serious injuries.
The passenger of Mann's vehicle was transported to St Rita's Medical Center with potentially serious injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was checked by EMS and released at the scene. The investigation continues and citations are pending. Assisting the Hardin County Sheriff's Office at the scene were Kenton Fire Department, BKP Ambulance District, MedFlight, Route 31 Towing and Minich's Towing.
