A timeline reminding students to vote is on the lobby wall of the Ohio Northern University library. Early voting begins today for the Nov. 3 general election.

Don Fleming was a life-long Ada resident and 39-year council member

The death of Don Fleming, who served on Ada council for 39 years, leaves much more than a typical vacancy on the council.

While vacancies leave absences, his life-long Ada background and experience creates an unusually large empty space, difficult to fill in small town village government.

Fleming was first elected in the early 1980s. He has served as a council member longer than any other person in the village, at least in recent history. He served at one time or another on each of the council committees. In 2019 he was Ada council president.

39 years on village council, treasurer of F&M Picnic, 4-H advisor, retired from Mid-Ohio Energy Cooperative

Donald “Don” Fleming, loving husband and father of two sons, passed away on Monday, Oct. 5, 2020 at the age of 77.

Don was born on Feb, 9, 1943, in Liberty Township, Hardin County to Clarence and Geneva (Reichenbach) Fleming. He married Connie Fleming on June 19, 1976, and he raised two sons – Mark and Steve Browne.

He retired from the Mid-Ohio Energy Cooperative after 22 years. Over his career, he also worked for Agro Sytems and the Ada Farmers Exchange Company. He was an active member of Ada First United Methodist Church where he served on various committees.
