Ada's latest news

Charles F. “Chuck” Smith, Jr., 61, passed away on Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, in the early morning due to an auto accident.

He was born on Aug. 12, 1959 in Washington, D.C., to Charles and Etta (Kearns) Smith, Sr.  His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Harrod.

Chuck worked as an independent insurance agent. He was a member of the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church in Kenton. Chuck was always generous with his time, money and love. He loved people, Mexican food and was known as the “Cookie Man.” Chuck especially loved his children and grandchildren.

You have to be a long-time Ada resident to recognize this once-familiar business, Hal and Jean's Barbecue. It was located a 111 Central Aveue and had an easy phone number to remember: 4521. Just don't try dialing it; you'll need an operator's assistance.
