The past couple of weeks, Water Quality Extension Associate Boden Fisher and I have been doing yield checks around the county in corn and soybean fields. 

We have seen some variable fields, with everything from poor pollination and tip die back in corn and short, but bushy soybeans with several pods.  Rains in late July and early August seemed to help with putting on pods but we are now dry again.

Bulldogs travel to Allen East on Monday

OLD FORT - The Ada boys soccer team earned its first win of the season with a 5-2 victory at Old Fort Thursday evening.

The convincing victory over the Stockaders improved the Bulldog record to 1-2.

Ada lost its home opener 4-1 to New Knoxville Monday.

Ada kicks off Northwest Conference play at local backyard rival Allen East Monday, August 31 at 7 p.m.

 

Miranda Wills led Ada with 14 digs, four kills and one block

COLDWATER - The Ada volleyball team got swept in three sets at Midwest Athletic Conference power Coldwater Thursday evening.

The 25-13, 25-12, 25-11 defeat dropped the Lady Bulldog record to 2-1 this season.

Senior Miranda Wills led Ada with 14 digs, four kills and one block. Classmate Kylie Acheson came up with seven digs. 

Junior Kirsten Poling passed out three assists, made one block and served two aces. Senior Megan Light came up with one block and dealt a pair of aces.
 
Sophomore Courtney Sumner served one ace.

'Dogs play at Marion Harding Saturday

COLDWATER - The Ada girls soccer team lost 10-1 at Coldwater Thursday on a very warm evening.

The defeat dropped the Lady Bulldog record to 0-2.

Kiah Hefner tallied the lone Ada goal. The Bulldogs got one shot off on goal, while the Cavaliers fired more than 40.

Ada plays at Marion Harding Saturday, August 29 at 1 p.m.

Ada competes in 15-team Ben Logan Invitational

BELLEFONTAINE - The Ada cross country team opened its season Tuesday at the 15-team Ben Logan Invitational.

Six Bulldogs ran in the meet, with three boys and three girls participating from Ada. A minimum of five runners is needed to register a team score.

Jonathan Alder won the girls team title, while Cedarville edged out JA to capture the boys crown. 

Junior Riley Ferguson paced the Ada boys by finishing 77th in a field of 149 runners. He led the Bulldogs with a time of 23:41.

Sophomore Connor Daugherty came in 130th with a time of 27:40. Fellow soph Robby Waters ended up 133rd in 28:08.
