Ada's latest news

If you lose touch with your college fraternity brothers after graduation, do you: a) do nothing; b) try to reconnect with them via social media or a phone call after life slows down, or c) surprise them by showing up at their house unannounced 35 years later?

If “c” sounds like the craziest choice, meet three late ’80s Sigma Phi Epsilon brothers from Ohio Northern University.

By all accounts, Dan Meek, BSME ’88, Brian Newberg, BA ’89, and Brian Keckler, BSEE ’89, are decent individuals and reputable professionals—a venture capitalist, an attorney, and a quality manager, respectively.

When the three get together? Surprisingly (or perhaps unsurprisingly), the ONU fraternity brothers transform into jokesters and co-conspirators, reminiscent of their college-aged selves.

During one such gathering of the minds, on a golf course during a global pandemic, the three concocted their most harebrained scheme to date: “The Lost Brothers Project.”

Noteworthy Community Choir has announced a December 10 performance at 3:00 p.m. of the concert Rise Up, and Follow!

The event will take place at Riley Creek Baptist Church, 4950 Orange Township Rd 27, Bluffton.

MIDDLE POINT__The Ada High School girls basketball team fell behind early and lost 65-30 at Lincolnview in the Northwest Conference lidlifter Thursday, December 7.

Ada fell to 3-1 overall and 0-1 in the NWC after the defeat that snapped a three-game win streak.

The Ada High School Music Department had a delightful experience at the 29th annual Music Celebration Concert at The Ohio State University on Friday, December 1. The event featured jazz, opera, bands, choirs, strings and the OSU Marching Band.

A standout moment was the women's vocal ensemble, who wowed the audience with their performance of "Fire." The students couldn't help but express their appreciation through cheers and (respectful) stomps. The jazz band also earned praise, leaving a lasting impression on the young audience.

Following the concert, the students explored the brand-new Timashev Family Music Building. They got a peek into composition study rooms, high-tech music technology spaces, classrooms, practice rooms, recording booths and rehearsal spaces. The students even caught glimpses of different groups rehearsing, experiencing the diverse world of music.
