Lynn Goes Cole was a social worker and caterer
Lynn Goes Cole of Ada, Ohio, passed away on December 20, 2024.
Lynn was born May 21, 1953, to Robert Louis Goes and Patricia Goes VanDemark in Morristown, New Jersey. Lynn was preceded in death by her husband William Cole, who passed away in 2021. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father, as well as her brother Robert Goes who passed away earlier this year. She is survived by sisters Jane DeVall and Wendy Moore.
After Lynn graduated from Madison High School in 1971, she went on to study Sociology at Ohio Northern University. Upon graduation, her first job was as a social worker for Allen County Children’s Services, something she was truly well suited.
While in college, Lynn met the love of her life, William Cole. They shared a wonderful life together in Ada for 44 years. They have two amazing daughters, Heather (Kevin) Sanislo of Westerville, Ohio, and Erin Durand Cole of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Both were by her side as she passed. Lynn and Bill were also blessed with two amazing grandchildren, Avery Sanislo, 18 and Liam Sanislo, 14. They brought so much joy to her life.
Lynn loved entertaining and was often “the life of the party.” Many of those parties were out at the “quarry.” However, her true passion was always food and cooking. Lynn had a small catering business for 29 years. She catered many events for friends and Ohio Northern University. She also spent many years as a substitute teacher, eventually taking a position to teach Culinary Arts at Lima High School. And if you knew Lynn, then you most likely had a loaf of her zucchini bread.
In retirement, she loved playing bridge, euchre, cooking, socializing at the Inn, and visiting with her grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude PL., Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
