ADA __The Ada High School volleyball team lost in straight sets to visiting Elmwood in a Blanchard Valley Conference match on Monday, September 15.

The Bulldog girls dropped to 10-2 overall and 2-2 in the BVC after suffering just their second defeat.

The Royals improved to 5-4 overall and 3-1 in BVC play with the 25-19, 25-18, 27-25 road win.

Junior setter Jaylin St. Laurent passed out 10 assists, made eight digs and served up three aces.

The Ada Exempted Village School District received an overall rating of 4 (out of 5), exceeds state standards in the 2024-2025 Ohio School Report Card recently issued by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. 

The district received 5’s for Gap Closing and Graduation. The district received a 2 for College, Career, Workforce, and Military Readiness. Details regarding the district’s enrollment can be viewed HERE.

Mellow hair studio of Ada has moved to a larger location next to the Ada Post Office at 129 S. Main St. and has been joined by Ki Skin Studio waxing services and Beauty by Ky manicure and pedicure services.

Hair stylist Yessica Arriaga opened Mellow in December 2022 in a shared space at 402 S Main Street where her husband Blake Pfifer operates Crosby's Barbershop.

Arriaga's services include haircuts, styling, conditioning and hair color. A detailed list is provided HERE.  Mellow has a new phone number, 567-800-5042.

See who will be crowned at 12:00 p.m. at the Depot on Saturday, September 20.

Ricky D. Dunson, age 71, of Kenton, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Lima Memorial Health System. 

He was born on June 17, 1954 to the late Paul and Joan (Howard) Dunson.  Rick was previously married to Jackie (Tom) Bartels. 

Surviving are his two children: Derek Dunson of Kenton and Angela (Jon) DeRolph of Glenford; and two grandsons: Wyatt and Waylon. 

Rick was preceded in death by his half-brother, John Paul Dunson. 

Rick retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he was a rural mail carrier. He also farmed and raised livestock. He was a member of the Heritage Christian Union Church, Forest. Rick was an avid fisherman and hunter.   

Peggy S. Gibson, age 58, of Ada, went home holding God’s hand on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at home with her family by her side. 

She was born on April 9, 1967 in Lima, Ohio to William D. and Eileen M. (Legg) Kindle.  Her father preceded her in death and her mother survives in Dunkirk. On September 27, 1987 Peggy married Robert R. Gibson and he survives in Ada.
