School Board recap: Metal roof installation planned for summer 2026

Laurene “Lolly” Hopson Cooney, 77, of Ada, entered the Lord’s embrace on Friday, March 27, 2026, at her home with her family by her side.

She was born on February 2, 1949, in Lima, Peru to the late Leonard T. and Heloise (Reid) Hopson. On March 27, 1971, Lolly married Dennis E. Cooney, who survives in Ada.

Also surviving are her two daughters: Rachel Cooney Temple of Ada, and Melanie T. (Matt) Dyer of Alger; five grandchildren: Melina, Collin, Carisa, Brenna and Quinn; and a sister, Marilyn R. (John) VanDyke of Mountainside, NJ; mother-in-law, Marcine Cooney.

From the remarkable collection of Leland Crouse, this post-1905 photo shows two early airplanes flying low over Ada's Main St. The view is from Buckeye, looking south towards the railroad tracks. The photo credit is J.H. Cave, Detroit, Mich. Labeled Aviation (?)
