What have you been up to since your graduation from Ada High School?
Well, I finished up my first year at Bluffton University and I’m getting ready to start my second year there. I had a job as a student assistant in the University Tech Center all year and I am currently employed there full-time for the summer. I will be working there again this school year.
How many garages sales are going on at this moment in Ada? It's too difficult to count. Here's the scene on Hayes Avenue. Thanks to the Lincoln Highway Buy Way Sale there are more garages are being cleaned out this weekend than any of the next 51 weekends. (Bailey Bowers photo)
Two important dates for families with children in Ada schools:
• Thursday, Aug. 14, 6:30-8 p.m., annual school open house
• Monday, Aug. 18, - first day of the 2014-15 Ada school year
The first day of school is for pupils in grades 1 to 12. School begins at 8:35 a.m. Kindergarten orientation is Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 18-19. Click here for kindergarten schedule.
Dismissal is at 3:30 p.m. for all students with the exception of town students in grades kindergarten, 1, 2, and 3, who will be dismissed at 3:10 p.m.
Here is the Ada Church of Christ Disciples on South Main Street. The church is remarkably unchanged aside from some repairs and changes in materials on the façade.

There are also subtle changes in the surrounding area. In the old picture, you can see a street lamp hanging from a wire above the cobblestone street.
Ada Public Library has a special "Elephant and Piggie" party at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 8. According to Amanda Bennett of the library, there will be games and stories. The '"Elephant and Piggie" book series by Mo Williems is primarily of interest to toddlers through kindergarteners.
Bethel Christian Preschool is now accepting registrations for 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds. The school is located at Bethel Church of Christ, 4014 County Road 304.
