The Village of Ada Tree Commission was honored to accept the Tree City USA award in a ceremony on April 9. The Village has earned the Tree City Award for 33 years. Ohio Northern University earned and accept the Tree Campus USA for the 3rd year.

The ceremony was held in Kenton, and was co-hosted by the City of Kenton and the Village of Mt. Victory.

The awards were presented by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry. The Division of Forestry acts as a guiding hand in helping communities become qualified as a Tree City USA.

When it comes to creating art - there's nothing like a child artist's work. Here are two students from the Ada Child Development Center creating masterpieces by simply using potatoes dipped into paint.

Ada midget football team and cheerleaders will hold a Walk-Silpada Jewelry fundraiser from 7 to 10 p.m., Saturday, April 26, at the brick building at Ada War Memorial Park.

“We’re having a glam, girls night out for an amazing cause,” say promoters of the event. “Be part of the pack and join the fight. Wear purple, gold and pink. Pajamas are optional – to show your support for the fight against cancer.”

The event is open to the community. Persons are invited to attend, possibly win prizes, and eat pizza, donated by Norada Lanes.

“Murder in the House of Horrors” will be presented by the Ada High School Drama Club with three weekend performances in the Ada school auditorium.

Performances are:
Friday, April 25, 8 p.m.
Saturday, April 26, 8 p.m.
Sunday, April 27, 2 p.m.

Peg Gordon, director, told The Icon, “This year’s production is unique because it has been student produced. All positions other than the director are filled by students.

Tickets are $3 for students and seniors, and $5 to the general public.

"We don't have cookies here," says Amanda Bennett, Ada Public Library director, "but look at all the library fun this week."

Many Ada High School students will participate in the exerience of donating blood during the school day, Wednesday, April 23. The American Red Cross will be at the school from 8 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

Several bits of information have gone home to parents, providing information about donating blood.

A copy of the "Parent Consent for Blood Donation" form and an information sheet about donating blood are attachments to the story.
