The following performances have been announced for the Snyder Recital Hall on the campus of Ohio Northern University. These events are free and open to the public.
PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE &
STEEL DRUM BANDS CONCERT
Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
Snyder Recital Hall
Featuring toe-tapping music with high-energy rhythms, this program is full of a variety of timbres and colors for percussion, and popular songs from the islands and the radio. Many pieces are written by alumni with a feature by Nate Hall on Chinese drums, and Elijah Kszmaul, conducting.

A senior music education major from Findlay, Ohio, studying in the studio of Dale Laukhuf, Strapp will be accompanied by pianist Emily Hanson for the first part of his program including pieces by Arthur Pryor, Eugene Bozza, John Ernest Galliard, and Alexandre Gulimant. He will also be joined by a jazz combo to perform Chattanooga Choo Choo, originally written for Glenn Miller and His Orchestra; Feels So Good by Chuck Mangione; and Fly Me to the Moon, made famous by Frank Sinatra.

A senior double-major in music education and performance from Lima, Ohio, studying in the studio of Dale Laukhuf, Junkins will be accompanied by pianist Emily Hanson. Her program will include Ferdinand David's Concertino Op. 4, Heaven or Hell by Steven Verhelst, Romanza Appassionata by C.M. Von Weber, Annie Laurie by Pryor, and her arrangement of Dvorak's Serenade for Strings in E Major. Joining her are several instrumentalists including bass trombone, trumpets, French horn, and tuba.

A senior double-major in music composition and sound recording technology from Lima, Ohio, Lampton's recital program consists of his original compositions including Bus Stop, Seagulls in Carolina, Duel, Deers on the Crosswalk, Tarnished River, Tomorrow’s Gust, King Hereafter (Macbeth’s Theme), Why is it Called “Blues” if all the Instruments are Yellow?, Climb in Paris, and Crimson Lobster. ONU music faculty join him with Dr. Rebecca Casey on piano; Dr. David Kosmyna, trumpet; and Dr. Sarah Waters with her steel drum band.
