ADA_Beatitudes served over 100 families with its summer food distribution that occurred on June 9.
According to Deb Curlis, the coordinator for the food drive, Beatitudes received two grants for the distributed food. One came from the Hardin County Community Foundation and a second grant came from the John Henry Eldrige Jr. Foundation. The grants totaled $9000. Each Hardin County school district was represented in the 100 kids who signed up, including some homeschooled students.
FROM FACEBOOK_The Ada Public Library has announced that it will celebrate America's 250th anniversary with sweet treats and a musical concert.
On Wednesday, July 1 they will host an old-fashioned ice cream social from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Ice cream will be served at the library. The celebration will continue at 6:00 p.m. with an outdoor piano concert featuring Dean Alstaetter. Dean is a local pianist, sharing a wide range of music.
Harold Duane. Barker, age 96, of Ada, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Glenn Park of Defiance.
Harold was born on November 11, 1929 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to the late Roy and Dessie (Nuzem) Barker. On July 27, 1963 Harold married Nancy (Dunbar) Barker and she preceded him in death on August 17, 2018.
Harold is survived by his children: Jim (Julie) Barker of Bellaire, TX and Linda (Mike) Meyer of Defiance, Ohio; three grandchildren Austin Meyer, Tyler Meyer and Allie Barker; and a sister, Wanda Taffin.

KENTON __The visiting Ada Gators summer swim team competed well vs. Kenton and Wapakoneta in a West Ohio Aquatic League triangular meet on Monday evening, June 15.
The Ada boys team swept to victory in both competitions to run their win streak to three consecutive meets.
The Gator boys beat Wapakoneta and county rival Kenton Area Swim Team, overcoming bigger rosters, to improve to 3-1 this summer.
The Ada males defeated the Wave boys 269-227, and topped the hosting Stingray team 293-162.
The Wapak Wave girls beat Ada, 343-142. The KAST Stingray girls defeated the Gators, 384-147.
