Red-hot Bulldog golf hammers Lima Senior

LIMA__The visiting Ada High School golf team defeated Lima Senior decisively in a dual match at Tamarac Golf Club on Thursday, August 20.
The streaking Bulldogs won by 29 strokes, 193-222. Ada improved to 27-3 after the victory.
Ada senior ace Brody Rister again earned match medalist honors by firing a nine-hole round of 42.
First-year Bulldog golfer Case Vieira tied for second, shooting a 48 at the challenging, tight course.
“We played a different starting lineup today, which included junior D.J. Howell making his first-ever varsity start,” said second-year Ada head coach Tod Schmidt.
“Although we earned the victory, we didn't play very well collectively,” he observed. “What I'm proud of was how each player remained focused and played through adversity, which is exactly what we are expecting of them.
“This was demonstrated in several different ways,” he continued. “Max Baumgartner finished with only 15 putts. Case finished very strong after a difficult start, and Gavin Guyton holed out a 75-yard shot on the final hole. These things don't happen if you lose focus and concentration.”
Baumgartner carded a 50, while Brooklyn Rister and Guyton both shot a round of 53 to tie as the fourth scorer.
Howell posted a 61.
Ada's next match is Monday, August 24 at 4:30 p.m. at Colonial Hills against Arlington, Pandora-Gilboa and Lima Senior.
“Spectators are welcome to come watch the Bulldogs compete,” Schmidt noted.
