The following Ada police reports were provided to the Icon by the Hardin County Sheriff’s office. They cover June 25 to July 1:

Entries being accepted for this year's parade on Aug. 10

Ada loves parades and here’s your chance to be part of this year’s Farmers and Merchants Picnic parade on Saturday, Aug. 10.

Becky Neville is this year’s parade chair and Tami Waller is co-chair. They provided the Icon with the following parade details plus an entry form attached at the bottom of this story.

The parade forms in the parking lot on West Lincoln Street and will begin at 9:30 a.m. Parade line-up starts one hour prior to the parade start.

Parade rules are listed in the entry form. The parade will be cancelled if lightning and thunder occurs at the beginning of the parade.

The follow report includes some action from the school’s June 27 Staff Notes, and is not officially approved board minutes.

Four teachers were hired for the 2019-20 school year during the June 27 Ada school board meeting.

One-year contracts were issued to:
Elaine Garber - American sign language                                                       
Camille Hesse - High school math              
Tom Atkinson - Band director                      
Shelleigh Alexander - 6th grade      

Everyone wants to be the next participant. Dr. Molecule entertained youngsters on Monday during the Ada Public Library's summer reading program. Dr. Molecule is both scientist and magician.

Ada High School swim team was three years old in 1990. That fall was the first year that enough team members participated to actually call it a team.

With Coach Rock Snow having six girls on the roster in 1990, he said, “This is really our first year as a team, even though we were recognized the last two years."

Leading the way were senior letterwinner and captain Tanya Nelson, the only member of Ada’s first team two years ago where she finished 23rd at state. Amber Thede and Hannah Robey-Zachariah joined the team the previous year.

The Ada Icon invites viewers to enter their names for a $50 gift certificate from Three Brothers Pizza in Ada.

During July the Icon is the business featured in the Liberty National Bank lobby. There's free notepads and pencils and several photos showing residents featured this spring on the Icon.

All you need to do to enter for the gift certificate is to place your name and email on the entry form and place it in the box on the display table. The winner will be drawn on Aug. 1.
