ARCADIA - Improbably, host Arcadia scored three two-out runs on back-to-back home runs in its final at bat to edge the Ada softball team 7-6 in a seesaw battle Tuesday evening.
The purple and gold dropped to 1-1 this season with the difficult defeat, while the Lady Redskins improved to 1-1 with the win.
Ada led 1-0 early but trailed 4-3 heading to the final inning. The Lady Bulldogs plated three runs in the top of the seventh to regain a 6-4 lead.
But Redskin Breana Reinhart hammered a two-run home run with two out to it up, 6-6.

INDIAN LAKE - The Ada girls track team won a triangular meet at Indian Lake with USV Tuesday evening, while the Bulldog boys came in second.
The Ada girls scored 80.75 points to win, followed by IL (68.25) and USV (5). The Lakers won the boys meet by scoring 98 points, with Ada in second (61), followed by USV (15).
Alex Morgan won two hurdle events to pace the Ada boys. Brenna Hissong also took first in two events for the Lady Bulldogs.

ARCADIA - The host Arcadia baseball team scored in every inning except the second to defeat Ada 12-2 Tuesday evening.
Ada fell to 2-2 with the non-league loss.
The Redskins jumped ahead with two runs in the bottom of the first frame. Arcadia extended the margin to 6-0 with four runs in the third.
The hosts led 9-0 going to the sixth when Ada plated its two runs. But Arcadia responded with three runs in the home half of the sixth to end it via the 10-run rule.
Bulldog sophomore leadoff hitter Zac Swaney collected two hits and scored a run. Senior Austin Amburgey singled, scored a run and drove in a run.
That means that the Ada Dairy B’s is open for the season. The ice cream drive-in at 4209 State Route 235 south of Ada opened a week ago.
This season’s hours are Mondays through Saturdays 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays, noon to 9 p.m. The kitchen closes nightly at 8:30 p.m.
Ice cream comes soft served and hand-dipped as sundaes, shakes, soda floats and cyclones. The menu also includes sandwiches, hot dogs, soft drinks and several side dishes.

The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy has received a $404,889 grant from the National Heart Lung Blood Institute to study the impact of methamphetamine on the heart.
Boyd Rorabaugh, Ph.D., professor of pharmacology and cell biology, is principal investigator, and Manoranjan D’Souza, Ph.D., assistant professor of pharmacology, is a co-investigator on the project.
This funding will provide opportunities for more ONU students to become involved in research while enhancing understanding of the long-term impact of methamphetamine abuse.
