Carroll Charles “Carl” Kouba, 88, of Lima, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019, at his home in Fort Shawnee.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 36 years, F. Irene (Plummer), who passed in 2003.

Carroll was born on Feb. 1, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Frank and Othelia (Krochot) Kouba.  He graduated from East Tech High School in 1950, where he ran the two-mile relay as a member of the track team with brother his Frank.  

He graduated from Fenn College (Cleveland State) in 1954 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.  After college Carroll would serve four years in the US Army as a Radio Technician in the Signal Corp during the Korean War.

Ready for a Thanksgiving dinner?

Beatitudes, 210 N. Main St., has teamed with the Ada Lions Club and Ada VFW Post  9381 for a free Thanksgiving dinner open to the public.

This year’s dinner is moved from Beatitudes to the Ada VFW Hall, 2147 State Route 235, and the Lions will sponsor the dinner. Serving time is from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26 (in place of the regularly-scheduled crockpot Tuesday).

And, during Thanksgiving week, Beatitudes will be closed Wednesday through Sunday, Nov. 27 to Nov. 30.

Raffle continues through Nov. 22
Don’t forget about the Beatitudes holiday raffle underway now through Friday, Nov. 22.

Ada High School Varsity Singers performed their show "Coffee," during the 2019 Music Boosters music feast this past weekend. Scott Henning is the vocal director. The Boosters wish to thank all the students, parents, staff and community members who volunteered this year.

Events every day next week at Community Health Professionals

This year's Festival of Trees at Community Health Professionals is set for 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday-Friday, Nov. 18-22. Auction will take place at CHP, 1200 S. Main. 

Many decorated trees, wreaths, and holiday decor items will be up for bid. Proceeds benefit CHP hospice program. Bidding will close on Friday, Nov. 22 at 6 p.m.

The 22nd annual Festival of Trees has several events planned, in addition to the auction items.

New Leaf Landscape and Garden Center’s Christmas open house is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16.

The open house includes New Leaf’s beautifully decorated store featuring:
• Unique decorations - country and traditional 
• Artificial trees, wreaths and greenery

The event will include refreshments and door prizes.

Seven people were winners in this fall's Ada Music Booster fundraising raffle, according to Amy spar of the boosters. This year's prize money totaled $1,100.
