All-American Christiaan Williams runs for season-high 183 yards

ADA — Junior All-American Christiaan Williams (Sidney/Anna) ran for a season-high 183 yards and a touchdown to lead the Ohio Northern football team to a 31-23 Homecoming victory over Marietta on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 3-2 overall and are 3-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Pioneers fall to 3-1, 2-1.

Williams carried the ball 30 times as ONU finished the day with 235 yards rushing and 429 yards of total offense.

Senior quarterback Anthony McFadden (Chillicothe/Paint Valley) completed 12-of-20 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns for the hosts.

Will face Arlington in first round on oct. 15

BLUFFTON - The Ada volleyball team was seeded seventh at the 14-team Div. IV Bluffton super sectional drawing held Sunday.

Ada (9-11) will visit sixth-seeded Arlington in the first round Tuesday, October 15 at 5:30 p.m.

The Lady Bulldogs beat Arlington 25-23, 25-19 at Hardin Northern on Saturday, August 31.

The Bulldog/Red Devil winner will then play the victor between fourth seed Minster (13-7) and 13th seed Waynesfield (3-15) Thursday, Oct. 17 at New Bremen.

Two-time defending NWC champs offensive line won the battle up front

SPENCERVILLE - The injury-plagued Ada football team fell behind 21-0 early and lost 58-14 at two-time defending league champion Spencerville in a Northwest Conference contest on a chilly Friday night.

The purple and gold fell to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in NWC play with the defeat. Spencerville improved to 4-2 and 3-0 in league action after their Homecoming win.

"Spencerville's offensive line won the battle up front," said Ada head coach Shawn Christopher. "We gave up field position and they took advantage of that.

Ada Music Booster craft show Oct. 19

Vendor spots are still available for this month's Ada Music Boosters crafts show.

The boosters will host the show in the 1986 gym from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.,  Saturday Oct.19.

Bureeda Hackworth, 95, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at Bridge Hospice Blanchard Valley Health System, Findlay, Ohio.

She was born in Paintsville, Kentucky, on June 21, 1924, to the late Lacy and Cloie (LeMaster) Brown.  On Aug. 31, 1943, Bureeda married Earl Hackworth and he died on Oct. 19, 2012.  Earl and Bureeda were married for 69 years.

Bureeda was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Lonesome Valley United Baptist Church of Alger.  She was a member of the Hardin County Home Extension Club and a member of the former Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #6 of Ada.
