Ada's latest news

Friday morning for some super hero storyies

Batman returns to Ada at 11 a.m. Friday, June 9.

He'll bring his side-kick State Senator Cliff Hite with him for a return visit of Batman Storytime at the Ada Public Library. Hite and Batman (or are they one and same?) visited the library two summers ago for a similiar storytime.

Sen. Hite is a former teacher and coach, so interacting with children just comes naturally.

In the photo he gives a fist bump to Daniel Klear.

Sen. Hite is a Republican from Findlay and has represented this area as senator since 2011.

He serves on the following committees: agriculture, education, energy and natural resources, public utilities and rules and reference.

Ada session on June 21 provides assistance if you want to enter a photo at the fair

Ada hosts a Wednesday, June 21, Little Sparks Goo Crew program, according to Jami Dellifield of the Hardin extension office.

This specific program assist persons in completing entries for the open class show at the Hardin County Fair.

The Ada session is from 10 to 11 a.m. and is titled “Let’s be a photographer.” Persons interested in attending should meet at the Ohio Northern University McIntosh Center.

A photo session takes place at the ONU duck pond.

Families are encouraged to help offset costs of open class fair entries and supplies with a $10 per family donation, payable to OSU Extension, Hardin County.

Toledo Zoo education representatives Nate Dick and Caroline Bearss, brought several animals from Toledo to Community Health Professional's meeting room Monday. Among the creatures were a python, a Mexican porcupine, and a tarantula. The program's focus was on how animals adapt to their surroundings. The event was part of the Ada Public Library's summer schedule of special activities. (Ken Collins photos)

The Icon spotted IRISH 92 in the Vancrest Ada parking lot. It's an Allen Country plate and you'll find this on a Honda CR-V in a slate grey color.

Meet Otis. He is a 2 year old male boston terrier mix. He weighs 25 pounds. Can you give him a forever home?

To give a dog a forever home, contact the Hardin County dog shelter. It is located at 49 Jones Road on the west side of Kenton.

Hours: 9 am to 4 pm on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Phone: 419-674-2209.

Generally, about 20 to 25 dogs are available for viewing.

The shelter is also the place to contact for giving up a dog, if you find a lost or stray dog, or if you come in contact with a vicious dog. It costs $20 to surrender a dog, which pays for deworming and immunizations for when it is rescued.
