A resident of Vancrest

Emma Spradlin is celebrating her 101st Christmas this year. She enjoyed a meal, along with a daughter and granddaughter, during Vancrest’s annual holiday meal and gift-giving for residents on Wednesday afternoon.

Emma was born in Salyersville, Ky., but spent most of her life in McGuffey where she and her late husband Frank farmed. They both worked at Hardin Memorial Hospital for many years, she in housekeeping and he as a janitor.

This is gift-giving season, but the mayor of Ada extends his gift-giving all year long by making tokens for numerous occasions and events.

You may pass by Dave Retterer at a Veterans Day service, Halloween, Merry on Main and he’ll slip a small wood token into your hand. The unexpected gift always brings a smile and “thank you” from the recipient.

Interstate 75 northbound shift to three lanes in Findlay

A traffic shift on Interstate 75 northbound between U.S. 224 and county Road 99, Findlay, to three lanes was delayed this morning due to weather.

Crews had planned to shift I-75 northbound, just prior to the U.S. 224 interchange, over to the new three lanes on the northbound side this morning. The shift was dependent upon the placement of pavement markings, which could not occur due to rain overnight.

The switch is anticipated to occur next week if suitable weather exists.
