The Kenton Hardin Health Department will hold a drive thru flu shot clinic this fall from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2020.

You can get your flu shot without leaving your vehicle. Shots will be administered in the parking lot under the Health Department, 175 W Franklin St.

Ohio Northern University reports that its Fall ’21 enrollment and retention numbers have markedly risen, surpassing pre-pandemic levels.

  • Overall enrollment rose 10.7%, to 3,116 students, the most attending since Fall 2015.
  • First-year students total 738. They represent the largest freshman cohort in 13 years.
  • First-year retention for the Fall 2020 cohort was 87%, the highest rate since Fall 2013.

Ada sophomore Jillian Hazelton competed at the Van Wert County Health Cross Country Invitational meet Saturday, September 25.

Due to team illnesses, she was the lone Bulldog able to participate.

Hazelton finished 99th out of 112 runners in the girls race. She covered the 3.1-mile course in 28:41.7.

"Despite not being her best time of the season, I'm so glad to see Jilli consistently well under the 30-minute mark this year because last year our goal was always trying to break 30," said Ada head coach Josh Klein.

Buckeye East Coffee Shop, 123 E Buckeye Ave, celebrated a Grand Opening on Saturday, September 25 with a ribbon cutting ceremony courtesy of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce. Mayor Dave Retterer did the honors and a ceremonial and functional broom was presented to the owners.

NASA engineer Courtney M. (Hetrick) Schkurko, BSEE ’13 and Kevin J. Saghy, BA ’07, a social media specialist, have been selected to receive Ohio Northern University’s 2021 William L. Robinson Young Alumni awards during homecoming weekend.

The ONU Alumni Association established the award to honor individuals who have graduated from the University within the last 15 years and who demonstrate passion and loyalty toward their profession, community and alma mater.

Schkurko and Saghy will be recognized during ceremonies prior to ONU’s Oct. 2 Homecoming football game.
