The Ada-Liberty Joint Ambulance District board will meet Monday, Feb. 18, at 5:30 p.m.,  at 530 N. Gilbert St., according to Nancy L. Kindle, fiscal officer/clerk.

Men fall to 5-18

Both ONU basketball teams lost on Saturday. Here are reports of those contests, with the women’s game first, followed by the men’s game.

The Ohio Northern women's basketball program dropped a nail-biting, 56-54 Ohio Athletic Conference contest to the first-place John Carroll Blue Streaks Saturday afternoon inside the ONU Sports Center.

With the loss, Ohio Northern moves to 11-12 overall this season and 5-11 against the conference loop. Meanwhile, the Blue Streaks improve to 17-6 overall and to 13-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Jon Cross, Ohio House Representative from the 83rd district,­­ has been appointed to the following standing committees and subcommittee:

  • Energy and Natural Resources
  • Finance Subcommittee on Transportation
  • Financial Institutions
  • Public Utilities

In addition, Speaker Householder appointed Rep. Cross to serve on a screening committee to interview candidates seeking an appointment to fill an open seat for the 3rd Ohio House district.

Senior All-American Ian McVey (Stow/Munroe Falls) shattered the 3,000-meter run school record Friday evening, and the Polar Bears wound up seventh in an 18-team field at the All-Ohio Championships Saturday afternoon, headlining the fourth weekend in the Ohio Northern men's track and field 2019 indoor season.

The boil water alert for the 200 block of North Simon and 200 block of East Buckeye, Ada, was lifted by the village at 10:35 a.m. today (Feb. 12).

The Ada Water System experienced a water line break on Monday morning, which loss of pressure in a water main affecting that area.

Youth from Ada Baptist Church are collecting backpacks and school supplies for the 2019-20 school year for local students with needs. The youth's goal is 40 backpacks. Donations for this project can be placed in the chuch fellowship hall.
