Ada schools have cancelled classes today, Monday, Feb. 11, according to Meri Skilliter, superintendent.

The cancellation announcement was made on Ohio Alerts at 8:05 a.m.

200 block of North Simon and 200 block of East Buckeye

The Village of Ada has a boil water alert. Residents in 200 block of North Simon and 200 block of East Buckeye in the Village of Ada are on a boil advisory due to a water main break.

Sessions held on Thursdays from March 7 to April 18

Applications are being accepted for the 2019 Citizens Sheriff’s Academy offered by the Hardin County Sheriff and Ada native Keith Everhart.

The academy takes place from 6 to 8:30 p.m., on consecutive Thursdays from March 7 to April 18, at the sheriff’s office, 1025 S. Main St., Kenton.

The academy offers participants with a working knowledge of the sheriff’s office. It covers various aspects of the sheriff’s responsibilities via classroom discussion and hands-on participation.

Ohio Governor and ONU alum Michael DeWine, addressed the Ohio News Media Association's annual convention on Thursday. Shane Tilton, assistant professor of multimedia journalism at ONU, attended the convention and sent greetings to the governor from Ada.

Mental Health Recovery Services Board program offered at Ada Public Library

The Mental Health Recovery Services Board of Allen, Auglaize and Hardin Counties will hold a series of free programs focusing on the struggle to overcome grief.

The programs take place in the Ada Public Library from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, March 6, through May 8, according to Chris Estes, Prevention Marketing Specialist, LOSS Team Coordinator.

Estes asks: “Are you struggling with your grief, over a death, a relationship, your pet, a life change? When Option A doesn’t work out, go to Option B, which is facing adversity, building resilience and finding joy.”
