Hanging flower baskets returned to Main Street eariler this week. Hung by village employees, the baskets provide the downtown with a true summer feel. This basket goes up in front of the railroad depot park.

Offering free lunches for area youth

Picnic in the park, a program offering free lunches to area children, will take place again this summer thanks to sponsorships from several local organizations.

The lunch program takes place Mondays through Fridays, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. beginning Monday, June 3. The program is held at the War Memorial Park.

The program is sponsored by ReStore Community Center with support from:
• The Hardin County Community Foundation
• Hardin County United Way
• Ohio Northern University’s chaplain’s office
• Ada Park Board

Glon to receive 25-year award from CoSIDA recognizing his long-time service and commitment to the profession

Despite his utmost enthusiasm and dedication to Ohio Northern University athletics, Tim Glon is known for much more than his renowned coverage of the Polar Bears.

Glon is the Director of Sports Information at Ohio Northern and will receive a 2019 25-Year Award from CoSIDA to recognize his long-time service and commitment to the profession.

His dedication to the profession goes beyond northwest Ohio where his connections developed over the last 25 years, as they span worldwide.

Braylon Simon's own experience at Nationwide Children's Hospital is the reason for the toy project

Note: Braylon's mom, Kayla Simon, is the receptionist at the Ohio Northern University physical plant.

FROM BLUFFTON ICON - Eight-year-old Bluffton youth Braylon Simon’s own experience at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, made him want to do something for other children who are patients there.

In April, 2018, Braylon, son of Jonathan and Kayla Simon of Bluffton, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Nodular Lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

After four rounds of aggressive chemo, he is in his ninth month of remission.

ADA — Ohio Northern senior Mitch Groves (Fishers, Ind./Chatard) has been selected to play in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Senior All-Star Game on Friday, May 24 at the U.S. Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md.

Groves is the first Ohio Northern player and is believed to be only the second players from the Ohio Athletic Conference to play in the annual event.

The Division III game will be at 5 pm and the Division I/II game will follow at 7:30 pm at Tierney Field. Admission is free and Lax Sports Network will stream both contests.

TIFFIN - One of five Ada track and field regional qualifiers competed in day one of the Div. III meet at Tiffin's Hoernemann Stadium Wednesday evening.

Bulldog junior Alex Morgan finished 14th in the 300 hurdle preliminaries to miss out on regional finals qualification Friday. Bluffton's Xavier Dunifon finished first in the 300 hurdle prelims.

Ada senior Noah Mattson (shot put), junior Philip Gautier (high jump), junior Nora Dellifield (pole vault) and senior Miguel Jordan (800) will compete Friday in finals for a chance to advance to the state meet.
