Youth launches toy drive for a good cause

FROM BLUFFTON ICON - Eight-year-old Bluffton youth Braylon Simon’s own experience at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, made him want to do something for other children who are patients there.
In April, 2018, Braylon, son of Jonathan and Kayla Simon of Bluffton, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Nodular Lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
After four rounds of aggressive chemo, he is in his ninth month of remission.
To celebrate his first year of being cancer free – in August – he wants to have a toy drive for the Hematology and Oncology floors at Nationwide hospital, where he was treated.
Here’s how the toy drive works, according to his parents:
New and unwrapped toys for all ages are being collected – babies to teens for boys and girls. Video games and board games can be used, but must be in excellent condition.
The drive started May 20 and continues through June 30.
“We want to take everything collected to Columbus for Braylon’s one-year scans and checkup in August,” says his mom.
A toy collection point in Ada is at the Ohio Northern University physical plant, where Braylon's mom the receptionist.
