Here’s an early weekend summary of ONU wrestling, men’s track and women’s track results as of Friday night:

Wrestling

No. 11-ranked senior Clayton Davidson (Kirtland) posted a 4-1 record at 174 pounds to lead the Ohio Northern wrestling team on the first day of the Pete Willson-Wheaton (Ill.) Invitational on Friday at King Arena.

The Polar Bears are 26th of 38 teams, 11 of which are ranked in the NCAA Division III top 25, with 17 points.

Davidson had a pin and three decisions and has reached the fourth round of the consolation bracket.

David Wilson, plant controller of Wilson Football factory, gets ready to pass. He’s holding a 2019 Super Bowl football created in Ada. Nearly 20 Wilson employees from Ada left for Atlanta on Friday. They will demonstrate how footballs are made. Both Super Bowl teams' special balls were sent from Ada on Jan. 21. The next photo is a close up of the ball, following by photos of other Wilson footballs.

February and March will be busy in our town

Giant used book sale, Valentine’s Day parties at Ada elementary, ONU Relay for Life, a PaintINN and these events just get things started in February. Wait until you see what’s taking place in March in Ada.

The free community meal usually held the last Wednesday of each month at St. Mark Lutheran Church at 125 S. Johnson St. in Ada will not be held this Wednesday due to expected bitter temperatures and wind chill.  Please plan to join us in February. 

Klava Katayama at league championship swim meet

NORTH ROBINSON - The Ada swimmers posted several personal-bests at the North Central Ohio Swimming League championship meet hosted by Colonel Crawford Saturday.

Ada junior standout Klava Katayama captured first in the 50 freestyle and 100-yard butterfly races. She set league meet records in each event and scored 32 of the 82 Lady Bulldog points.

"Klava won both of her events and broke the (league) records for both as well," noted Ada head coach Stephanie Steiner. "We had more personal-records from Melina (Temple) and Bella (East) in both of their events at the meet as well."

Mark Badertscher of the Hardin County OSU Extension office announced this year’s Hardin County livestock organization banquets: 

Dairy banquet and horse banquet, Saturday, Feb. 23. The dairy banquet is at the Plaza Inn Restaurant, Mt. Victory, at noon.  The horse banquet is at the Kenton Moose Lodge at 6:30 p.m.

Lamb banquet, Saturday, March 2, at St. John’s Evangelical Church, Kenton, at 6:30 p.m.

Pork banquet, Saturday, March 9, at 6:30 p.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Church, Kenton.  

Poultry banquet, Saturday, March 16, at Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Kenton.
