Japanese college students spending five weeks at ONU

Japanese students learn there is nothing as American as apple pie.

Here, Mana Hashimoto of Mie, Japan, learns how to make apple pie with crumb topping. Has she ever made a pie in her home country? No, one sees pies only in hotels or specialty bakery shops there.

Mana is one of 28 Japanese students studying at Ohio Northern for five weeks this summer as part of a program to acclimate international students to American college life.

hey were having a great time peeling apples and rolling out crust, soon to be a tasty treat rarely found in Japan.

Note: Last week we asked if anyone was good with roosters. CLICK HERE for that story.

Update on Rooster - Still Available, running circles around our cops (specifically the Chief).

Good News - the owner of the Rooster has been identified. Seems the little guy got away when he discovered news of a Chicken Swap and wanted no part of it.

The owner is attempting to capture him now - Good Luck.

The Ada VFW Post 9381 third annual car show Saturday brought out many people displaying their vehicles,

Here are some of the cars on display.

• Kevin  Mierzejewski and daughter Angela, 1968 Chevy Impala Super Sport with only 61,000 original miles. You can find Kevin just about anywhere...on land, in the air, and on the sea. Besides having this Impala, he owns the Ada Airport, loves to fly ultralights, and has a boat, as well.

The Ada swim team, known as The Gators, have their last meet of the season at the Kenton pool Friday and Saturday.

Swimmers from the eight league teams will vie for championship status from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. those two days.

So far this year, the Ada Gators are 50-50 against league foes.

We have a lost rooster in the village that needs to be relocated to a farm home.  We have no idea how it got to Ada and if anyone can assist in taking the rooster, please call the Ada Police Department at 419-634-0010, Phone Option #2.

Heavy rain is on the northwestern Ohio weather radar on Monday evening, July 10.
