John and Christina Dean working on restoration of this historic Ada home

John and Christina Dean sit on the steps of their home, which is nicely decorated for the holidays.

But there is much more to this story - the home at 125 E. Lincoln Ave. has undergone refurbishing this summer, and the two-story structure is one of the oldest houses in town.

Plus, a business card from the original owner was found in the flooring while working on exterior cellar doors four years ago.

Coaching staff and Ian McVey gain DIII recognition

ONU junior  All-American Ian McVey (Stow/Munroe Falls) has been named the Div. III All-Ohio Men's Runner of the Year, while the Ohio Northern coaching staff was named the Div. III All-Ohio Men's Coaching Staff of the Year.

Yesterday the Icon announced that ONU senior Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) has been named the Div. III All-Ohio Female Runner of the Year for the 2017 season.

McVey earned the honor for the first time in his career, while Maus and his staff claimed the award for the second time in the last three seasons.

ADA - Visiting Riverdale took advantage of a lengthy Ada mid-game offensive drought to register a 60-43 win in a non-conference girls basketball contest Tuesday evening.

 

The scrappy purple and gold dropped to 1-3 with the defeat, while the Lady Falcons improved to 4-2 after the win.

 

Riverdale outscored Ada 21-1 in the decisive second period, and Ada went without a basket in the entire quarter and part of the third period. Riverdale rallied from a 14-9 deficit to a 21-point lead following a 28-2 run.

Jessica Reynolds, MD, of Surgical Associates of Northwest Ohio, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System, completed the first LINX Reflux Device implant in Northwest Ohio at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

“This new advancement revolutionizes the surgical treatment of reflux disease,” shared Kelly Shroll, president of Blanchard Valley Medical Practices. “We are glad we can provide this minimally invasive option to our patients and believe this procedure will improve the overall quality of life for our patients suffering from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).”

Janet Lee Crawford, age 66, died on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 7:21 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.

            She was born on April 26, 1951 in Kenton, Ohio to the late Walter R. “Scotty” and Eleanor J. (Latimer) Scott.  On June 16, 1973 Janet married Robert “Bob” Crawford and he survives in Ada.
