Living in Ada

The Village Voice

Independence Day “It (July 2nd) ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.” - John Adams, 1776

While John Adams thought Americans would be celebrating their independence on July 2, the day the resolution for independence was approved by Congress, the sentiment has remained the same.

To celebrate this national holiday, the Village Offices will be closed July 4 and 5. The offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 8.

Water Bill Payment Options

In order to provide customers with the tools they need, the Village of Ada offers a number of water bill payment options. Bills are printed on a monthly basis, usually around the 25th of each month, and payments are due on the 10th of each month.

Many customers stop in the Village office to pay their bills. Payments can be made in the office during regular office hours, and accepted payment methods are check, cash, money order, and Visa, MasterCard and Discover debit/credit cards.

Did you know that you could rent the Ada Community Pool for a party? Or, that adults have laps swims three days a week? Or, midnight swims (8 p.m. to midnight) are a great way to cool off in the evening?

The Ada Icon offers viewers a copy of the 2013 pool rules and regulations, which lists prices and all other options available to community residents...including party rentals, adult laps swims, midnight swims and more.

Simply open the attachments at the bottom of this story for all the details. The attachments are printer-friendly. (You'll also find daily admission and pass rates. It's a great piece to print and post on your refrig'.)

The 2012 Ada Consumer Confidence Report, also known as CCR, is now available for the general public.

Making the report available is an annual requirement for compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act for community water systems throughout the country. According to the U.S. EPA, the report “lists the regulated contaminants found in the drinking water.....as well as health effects information.”

The Village passes this information along to its consumers not just to comply with the federal regulations, but also because the administration feels it is important for consumers to know where their drinking water comes from and what affects it.

Summer hours until for the Ada Schools are as follows:

Monday - Thursday: 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Friday: 7 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Elementary and High School offices close on Friday, June 14 for the summer.

To contact the school after June 14 call the Central Office.

Ask any student what was most important about May 24 this year, and the answer will probably come faster than lightning: “It was the first day of summer vacation!”

The rest of us know what that means – seeing kids out and about throughout the day.

There will be more children walking, biking and playing outside during daylight hours.

Some popular paths kids may use are to the library for summer reading club, the park for various summer activities and downtown for ice cream.

Eyes and ears will be the most important tools we all have over the next few months.
