Four Ohio Northern University students have been selected as University Innovation Fellows (UIF) by Stanford University’s Hasso Plattner Institute of Design. The students, who are enrolled in the T.J. Smull College of Engineering, are Anne Major of Okemos, Mich.; Brittney Masters of Millersburg, Ohio; Todd Federici of Findlay, Ohio; and Will Sierzputowski of Columbus, Ohio.
The Ada 5th grade, 6th grade, and junior high bands as well as the 6th grade and junior high choirs will present their Spring Concert Monday, May 6, at 7 p.m. in the Ada School Auditorium.
The Ada 5th Grade Band is under the direction of elementary music teacher Tabitha McPeeks. They will play multiple selections they have been working on during the spring semester.
The Ada 6th Grade Band is under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Lischak. The 6th Grade Band will be performing the main title from "Star Wars" by John Williams, "Midnight Mission" by Brian Balmages, and "Dragon Dance" by Michael Story.
Ohio Northern University will celebrate the crowning achievement in the lives of its students during upcoming commencement exercises in the King-Horn Sports Center Field House. ONU President Daniel DiBiasio will preside over the ceremonies. The Raabe College of Pharmacy and undergraduate colleges, as well as the Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) program, will hold their ceremonies on May 12, and the Pettit College of Law commencement is scheduled for May 19.
Approximately 637 students are earning their degrees from the University this academic year, including 139 from the College of Pharmacy, 62 from the College of Law and 436 from the other three colleges.
Sophomore Vinh Thai (Galloway/St. Charles) has been tabbed the final Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the 2018-19 campaign, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Last week, Thai posted a 2-0 record at No. 1 singles and a 1-1 record at No. 1 doubles against the top two teams in the final OAC standings, John Carroll and Otterbein. With his two singles victories, the sophomore completed an undefeated 5-0 season in singles play against conference opposition.
Junior right-handed pitcher Nate Bye (Thorntown, Ind./Western Boone) has been dubbed the Ohio Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week in baseball for the April 22-28 voting period, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Last week, Bye helped guide the Polar Bears to a 4-1 overall record and a 3-1 OAC mark with two stellar pitching performances. The Thorntown, Indiana native posted a 2-0 record on the mound with a 0.56 ERA and four strikeouts in a team-high 16.0 innings.
